Brief Biography:

* Industry experience in Detroit as an agency copywriter, radio announcer and music director, and television creative services executive.
* Instructor of Mass Communication, Wayne State University, from 1966-69.
* Founded Broadcast & Cinematic Arts program at Central Michigan University in 1969 as an assistant professor; promoted to full professor in 1975.
* Author of over 40 articles and books including, BROADCAST/CABLE COPYWRITING (now in 7th edition); ELECTRONIC MEDIA CRITICISM (now in 2nd edition) and CAREER PERSPECTIVES IN ELECTRONIC MEDIA (now in 2nd edition).
* Frequent presenter at national conventions and consultant to media education programs at universities around the country.
* Elected to two terms on the Broadcast Education Association's Board of Directors, and served as director of the BEA Scholarship competition since 1992. Previously completed two terms as chair of BEA's Courses & Curricula Division.
* Awarded the Broadcast Education Association's Distinguished Education Service Award in 2001 (the organization's highest recognition).
* Elected to Michigan Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame, 2003.
* Earned way through college as a clarinetist and continues to play professionally.
