Broadcast & Cinematic Arts Special Talent Scholarships (CMU Funded)
Broadcast and Cinematic Arts majors are eligible to apply for scholarships that recognize their abilities and achievements in the classroom and in the School’s cocurricular facilities.
The scholarships are competitively awarded on an annual basis, with applications accepted in March for the following year.
Typically, scholarships are given for a complete academic year (Fall and Spring semesters). Winners are eligible to compete for a renewal of their awards in subsequent years.
Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:
- demonstrated intent to complete a BCA major
- minimum 3.0 grade point average in BCA coursework
- minimum 2.5 grade point in all college coursework
- significant and positive current involvement in one or more of the following School cocurricular activities:
- WMHW-FM
- Moore Hall Television
- News Central 34
- M2D2
- Moore Media Records (MMR)
- Film Society
- specified plan of continued involvement in department cocurricular activities for the year in which the scholarship is to be used
Dollar amount of each BCA Special Talent Scholarship varies from year-to-year based on the number of winners selected for that year by the BCA faculty.

Broadcast & Cinematic Arts Endowed Scholarships
The school offers five endowed scholarships: the Jeffrey Ray Vernon Memorial Scholarship; the Kelly Fitzpatrick and Bruce Wood Memorial Scholarship; the Wilbur E. Moore Scholarship; the Tim Roberts Country Radio Scholarship; and the Fausto and Gladys Fernandez Endowed Scholarship. Some of these recognitions are awarded in alternate years.
Criteria for these grants are similar to those for the Special Talent Scholarships. Students must have established a successful classroom and co-curricular record in BCA before applying. Applications are accepted in March for the following year and are available in the BCA office, 340 Moore Hall.
