Scholarships
Broadcast & Cinematic
Arts Special Talent Scholarships
Broadcast
and Cinematic Arts majors are eligible to apply
for scholarships that recognize their abilities
and achievements in the classroom and in the department's
cocurricular facilities.
The
scholarships are competitively awarded on an annual
basis, with applications accepted in March for
the following year.
Typically,
scholarships are given for a complete academic
year (Fall and Spring semesters). Winners are eligible
to compete for a renewal of their awards in subsequent
years.
Scholarship
applicants must meet the following criteria:
- demonstrated
intent to complete a BCA major
- minimum
3.0 grade point average in BCA coursework
- minimum
2.5 grade point in all college coursework
- significant
and positive current involvement in
one or more of the following department cocurricular
activities:
- WMHW-FM
- Moore
Hall Television
- News
Central 34
- M2D2
- specified
plan of continued involvement in department cocurricular
activities for the year in which the scholarship
is to be used
Dollar
amount of the BCA Special Talent Scholarships varies
from year-to-year based on the number of winners
selected for that year by the department faculty.

Arts Endowed Scholarships
The
school offers three endowed scholarships:
the Jeffrey Ray Vernon Memorial Scholarship,
the Kelly Fitzpatrick and Bruce Wood Memorial
Scholarship, and the Wilbur E. Moore Scholarship.
Some of these recognitions are awarded in alternate
years.
Jeffrey
Ray Vernon's mother, Hilde, recently published

Criteria
for these grants are similar to those for the
Special Talent Scholarships. Students must have
established a successful classroom and co-curricular
record in BCA before applying. Applications are
accepted in March for the following year and are
available
in the BCA office, 340 Moore Hall.
